Ken Glanister worked with Nicky at the Ft. George Seismograph Station for several years. He and I were chatting recently by e-mail about his work and life at Ft. George. Here is a paragraph he wrote, which he has agreed to be shared here.
"I always thought the world of Nick, he is a great guy. I have the fondest of memories of him. Nick was not only the boss... he was a very good friend. As a kid in my early teens, I learned a lot from Nick and he really did have a big influence on molding me as a person. I remember our fishing from the Causeway for those huge Garfish, and night fishing for
Snappers at the dock by the causeway bridge and the entrance to the airport, with that bright light shining in the water, which attracted some huge Grey Snappers. I learned that mixing Linseed Oil in the paint when painting the shutter on his house, really improved the paint’s ability to withstand weathering. A lot of little things, when put all together creates a very large positive influence. Nick is one person I will always remember, as a very bright light in my life" |
